Summer
Walter Dean Myers
Assonance: line 3 a good example. It says bugs buzzin from cousin to cousin. The u's , o's, and ou's create cool sound.
Myers only uses two stanzas in this poem. It's to emphasize that summer can be divided into two parts: playing and sleeping,. The best things to do during the summer.
Birds peeping
Old men sleeping
Lazy days, daisies lay
Beaming and dreaming
Of hot days, hot days,
Sweat is what you got days
It's a lyric poem about the summer months. Myers obviously enjoyed the summer time
Myers was born on August in West Virginia. He was given away and lived in Harlem with his foster Mom and Dad. He never knew why he was given away.
I like hot days, hot days
Sweat is what you got days
Bugs buzzin from cousin to cousin
Juices dripping
Running and ripping
Catch the one you love days
